Your first layout in five steps

You can go from nothing to a full estate layout in about a minute. Here is the shortest path.

1 Β· Find your site

Open the Site, survey & scale sidebar section, type a postcode or address into the search box and pick a result. The map centres on your site and the drawing is set to real-world scale automatically. See Finding your site on the map.

2 Β· Draw the boundary

Click Draw site, then click around the edge of your site to place corners. Double-click (or press Enter) to close the boundary. Then click Entrance and click the point on the boundary where the site meets the road.

3 Β· Generate

Open the Generate menu in the top bar and choose Site (🏘). Airship lays out roads, plots and parking across your site. See The Generate menu.

4 Β· Try alternatives

A cycle bar appears at the bottom. Use Try another for a fresh layout, the β—€ β–Ά arrows to step through options, and drag the green / overlap sliders to tune the result live. See Trying alternatives & live sliders.

5 Β· View and export

Switch to 3D in the top bar to walk the scheme, or Sketch for a planning-style line drawing. When you are happy, open the Export sidebar section for PDF, DXF, Revit or a PNG image.

Next. Everything is editable β€” see Editing tools to move houses, bend roads and add detail.
