The layers you can see

Search a postcode and switch on the GIS overlays to draw any of 22 UK data layers over the aerial imagery, grouped as:

• Flood & water — Environment Agency Flood Zones 2 & 3, flood storage areas. See our flood risk guide.
• Landscape & nature — green belt, National Landscapes (AONB), National Parks, SSSIs, ancient woodland, nature reserves, Special Areas of Conservation, Special Protection Areas, Ramsar wetlands and heritage coast.
• Heritage — conservation areas, listed buildings (as hoverable pins), scheduled monuments, historic parks & gardens and World Heritage Sites.
• Planning & land — brownfield land, tree preservation zones, Article 4 directions and built-up areas.

Every area and pin has a hover tooltip naming the designation, and you can pick exactly the layers you need.

Data sources

The overlays and report draw on planning.data.gov.uk, the Environment Agency and ONS Census 2021. This is indicative screening data to inform early design — always verify with the local planning authority before relying on it. Try it on your own site with the housing estate layout tools.
